Lessons from nature subtitle for your new post

I love to walk around my yard looking at the beautiful old oak trees. As I was taking a photo of this tree a small fern was engulfed by the beautiful glow of sunlight making it appear this brilliant light green. As I panned out, I started to see what was behind this tiny fern.
The tree is missing its bark and rot has set in creating a hole. As I panned out further there were more ferns surrounding it and the hole was much larger.
I realized at that moment that this is what happens when I make poor decisions in my life. Up close, I perceive my decision as good while ignoring the whole picture and its effect on me in the future.
Then I saw this other oak tree twisting and turning while branching out into different directions, even the bark was following the twist of the tree. I wondered if this made the tree weak in certain areas and then I realized one part of the tree took a 45 degree turn while the big part of the trunk on the opposite side had rotted off. I have a lot in common with this tree. The twisting and turning illustrates me making the same decision but expecting a different result. Unfortunately, consequences always catch up.
In the back of my property there are a cluster of trees that are canopied by deadly vines. The vines start out as small around as a cell phone charger cord.
They quickly grow in diameter as big as a small tree while climbing up and over the treetops. They spread from tree to tree intertwining the branches and completely covering the top of the trees concealing it from the sun. Eventually, the tree rots and dies. Bad decisions are like these vines, the longer they grow the harder it is to cut them down.
Last year I cut down all the vines on the pine tree to the left of that cluster of trees. It took a lot of effort and a couple of weeks to clean this pine tree up but it’s thriving now. It will take time and effort to clean up the bad decisions that I have made for years but the end result will be worth it.
Nature teaches us a lot.
